Zoetis has hit its goal of raising $100,000 for Beyond Blue to support the mental health of vets in Australia.

As part of the program, Zoetis donated $5 from every sale of their Companion Animal and Livestock products between 15 July and 31 October until their corporate goal was achieved. The funds raised will go directly to the Beyond Blue Support Service to provide advice and support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“Zoetis has been a loyal and active supporting partner for Beyond Blue since 2016, and we are indeed grateful for their ongoing support,” Beyond Blue CEO Georgie Harman said.

“The $100,000 Zoetis has raised for us this year will go towards the Beyond Blue Support Service, which provides advice, support and short-term counselling to people across the nation.

“The service is free of charge and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so it is a useful way for vets and others to address their mental health because often, other sources of mental health support are limited,” Harman added.

The Beyond Blue Support Service costs on average $48 per contact and veterinary professionals can reach out to counsellors by phone, webchat or email. This means the funds donated by Zoetis, with help from the local communities, has funded over 2000 contacts with people at a critical time in their lives.

“We are very passionate about improving mental health and are proud to have partnered with Beyond Blue to tackle these very real issues affecting our vets, who suffer as a result of supporting our community,” Zoetis vice-president, Australia and New Zealand, Lance Williams said.
