Understanding the Australian veterinary profession

australian veterinary profession

The University of Exeter in the UK and the Australian Veterinary Association are collaborating in a study to examine how male and female junior veterinarians are evaluated, advised and rewarded by managers.

By seeking the views and insights of line managers and veterinarian employers, the experimental study attempts to replicate— albeit in an Australian context—an earlier study conducted in collaboration with the British Veterinary Association.

It is hoped the information gathered will help to better understand individual perceptions of veterinarians and the veterinary profession in Australia, and support the development of a long-term plan to address issues such as remuneration and retention rates in the profession.
