The collar’s active ingredient amitraz is impregnated within a patented polymer matrix. The lipophilic properties of amitraz causes the active to spread throughout the lipid layer of the dog’s skin and hair coat, for a period of up to 2 months following application. Amitraz is a well known acaracide, which acts as an agonist of the tick’s octopamine receptor. When amitraz binds to the receptor, it specifically inhibits the activity of monoamine oxidase, causing convulsions and tremors and most importantly paralysis of the tick’s mouth parts, preventing tick attachment and feeding, which is ultimately the key to effective tick control.
Preventic has a registered claim to control ticks including paralysis ticks (Ixodes holocyclus and Ixodes cornuatus), bush tick (Haemaphysalis longicornis), cattle tick (Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus) and brown dog tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) in dogs for up to 2 months. Preventic has a pleasant mint fragrance and has been trusted and respected by veterinarians for over 15 years.
This tick season recommend Australia’s number 1 tick collar to your clients for fast, effective and affordable tick control.
