COFFS Harbour’s Pacific Vetcare has taken out a national award as the best large animal veterinary practice.
As part of the Australian Veterinary Association’s national conference held in Perth last month, the entire team at the practice was singled out for its purpose-built facility and its use as a training facility for veterinary science and nursing students.
Practice co-owner David Johnson told The Coffs Coast Advocate more than 30 staff across their four sites were driven by a desire to be the most caring and progressive practice.
Along with fellow owners Allan Hudson and Stephen Deist, Mr Johnson dedicated the award to all the staff.
“We’ve told our staff that they’ve won the award, not us,” he said.
“It is a practice award and we have worked very hard, particularly since we built our new premises in Coffs Harbour, to lift our standards and try and become the best practice in an area which is quite competitive in terms of veterinary services.”
While treating animals is a serious business, Mr Johnson said the key was for staff to be satisfied and motivated.
“The team’s driving motivation has been to practise excellent veterinary science and enjoy doing it,” he said.
