The practice management special interest group of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVAPM) and the Australian Veterinary Business Association (AVBA) have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to amalgamate on 1 January 2017.

The amalgamation will create a new group ‘The Veterinary Business Group’—a new type of entity within the AVA, with a different governance structure from its special interest groups and divisions.

According to the press release, the group’s joint commitment “is to drive innovation and to develop leadership skills in veterinary businesses, and to foster a strong, successful veterinary services industry well into the future.

“The partnership will eliminate duplication of activities, offer greater value for money for members and sponsors, and enable a stronger and more influential voice.”

The amalgamation will be announced publicly at the AVBA conference dinner in Melbourne this Thursday 6 October.
